So went online just for the hell of it and it seems you can't get a L/S now. Also MSRP for a new Ranger with everything is $27K. No thanks.

I'm curious, did they do this for better mpgs? Aren't discs much lighter than drums?

I know discs stop much better but why after all these years did they decide to change them?

 

They changed to discs because of the new law. I believe every new vehicle by a certain year has to have a stability control system which in Ford's case is RSC(Roll & Stability Control). The system uses ABS sensors at all 4 corners which is why they went with a disc. The disc vs drum weight wouldn't affect mileage at all since the change is so little.

 

So, this would be why the brake fluid reservoir is like twice the size they were?

 

wonder why you can't get it now.... that's what i paid. truck is in sig. 5 years 0%,

 

^^In Cananadian though. 27k for a loaded down Ranger here in the states. Effin sucks. in '08, you can have an almost fully loaded XLT(everything but auto) for about 24 out the door.

so whats the **** on the back size? that the abs sensor?

Thats why I dont know why everyone is so excited about it! I mean really WHO GIVES A FLYING **** if new Rangers come with disc brakes?

Why when you can have 12" rotors, cobra calipers, and the Currie bracket for about $400 all new. AND the parking brake is SOOOOOOOO much easier and SOOOOOO grippy with the SN95's. When the Ford Racing explorer kit costs $600?? Mustang/Cobra > Explorer.

pretty sure you have a 28 spline, since you dont have an FX4

No. You definitely have the 28spline....which means you can do cobra brakes!!! I might have some for sale here soon....

 

us canadians still have the FX4 not like it really matters to me but one of my local dealers got one in and it has painted fender flares and a traction lok and all the normal fx4 options
