A gas engine revs higher than a diesel. If you truly use the truck to its potential which means high speed desert runs then you would run out of gear too quickly. Also the power lag and weight of a diesel would also hinder the truck.

I would get one too and use it. Most of today's buyers buy things to show off. So 4wd just to say they got it. Can they use it? Nope.

not EVERY, i've heard they suck in sand

also you gotta factor in weight, diesels are heavy lil ****ers. weight is a race cars/trucks worst enemy.

plus you want horsepower, torque gets you goin but HP keeps you goin. you can build a gasser to rap up way higher and MUCH MUCH quicker.. meaning you get power sooner which means you accelerate quicker.

Hmm. I forgot about them. I'm sure they built the engine specifically for that use. I doubt Ford will do that.

I read an article on the Raptor, it's a cool concept. Good looking truck. But like a few have said just to much plastic, and to much of a asking price for the hard working middle class! But that Blue is an amazing color!

One drove past me going the other way yesterday so I didnt get any pictures. Do some of the models come stock with a light bar in the front? It had a light bar with 4 lights.

Exactly. You don't want a heavy engine in a truck like that. Lag, low revving, and front heavy = not good for that type of truck.

Ford did have plans to have a 4.5L (I think) diesel in the F150 by 2010 but I think the idea got put on hold with the economy in the sh!tter.

Now of course you can build a long travel 4x4 F150 with better shocks and better components, but the whole idea behind the raptor is a badass truck that no other manufacturer matches, straight off the show room floor.

If I was loaded, maybe I would do something like this...

its not the suspension that appeals to me, its the body work that is already done to clear the tires. i love the changes.

Yeah there is that too, I love it. The only thing I don't like (on all the 09+) is the top of the tailgate area.

Agreed. It doesnt seem to flow with the rest of the lines of the truck

There is about a 100 or so just sitting around at work waiting to be taken on a test drive by me, along with the great looking Mexico Lincoln LT.

the cool thing about the raptor is that it comes with all those mods factory and a warranty, unlike if you buy a F-150 then throw a LT kit on it... just sayin... but I agree with a lot of you guys that price tag is a lil steep.

That Lincoln LT front end is hideous. I think we have a new winner for ugliest truck of the past 2-3 decades.

I dont think the price tag is bad at all, look how much a Lariat 4x4 costs, more than the Raptor.

I have no idea what they were thanking when they designed that front end. If I didn't want a job anymore I could but I like working there. I work in the plant right next door to were they are built so I see them all the time and the keys are always above the sun visor.

Here is a crappy picture of the new Halery 150.
