Mine was 20k from 200k miles when I sold it. Kinda wish i would have kept it long enough to see it turn over 200k. I replaced everything but the motor, and tcase it seem like though. That 3.0 felt like it only had 50k on it, even with it being beat on.

Hopefully you can get to the 200k club!!

Do you guys think these 4.0 SOHC engines will last as long as the older 4.0 OHV engines? I don't know much about engines. I know the differences but longevity I don't know.

a SOHC will definately not outlast a 4.0 OHV motor, i know im going to start an argument or a pissing match by saying that but ive done my fair share or SOHC cam chains and tensioners etc... and ive only had one OHV opened up

why would Ford replace the OHV with the SOHC if it is inferior?

because it is cutting edge technology to go with the overhead cam design, less moving parts etc.... and they profit from more comebacks! lol

Better mileage and performance maybe? The OHV might outlast it but the SOHC is more economical and the numbers are better.

I don't know facts that just makes sense to me.

i understand the OHV was an outdated motor, as was the 3.0 but

the OHV usually, i say usually will get better gas mileage than a SOHC
the OHV torque curve starts alot lower, redline is <5000rpm
SOHC has more hp and torque but it isnt until alot higher rpm

IF i knew what i know now back then, i would have been looking for a fully loaded '00 and did the 01-03 swap on it. I want the OHV.

Chuck, you need to relax on the miles. Also you need to update your profile. You have new tires etc...

broke in? she feels like a tired old ***** compared to a '08 4.0 w/ 3.73s and 33's. i'm 4.0 w/ 4.88 and 35's...and mine feels slow compared to the 08. :(

i got that lovely chain rattle...and i've heard it since about 40k...so i'm considering putting a low mile 07 shortblock in it should it grinade!....

Hey buddy! Not bad on finally hitting 100! :-D

I am just about to roll 130k on my own, put in 15k of my own miles since I bought it back in September of '07 =)

Oof, still running like a champ! Just work kicking my *** and giving me a hard time with having my own time to turn a wrench or two for more mods!
