I got my OC installed!

I went to U-Pull-It yesterday, looking for a replacement for the plastic base that goes around the shifter, and decided to look again for an overhead console (I tried a few days before, but there wasn't any). I found one in a '96 V8 Explorer. It was grey, which was a turn off, but I bought it anyways. It only cost $12, and I figured it would hold me over until I found a tan one. Well, I installed it about 30 minutes ago, and to my surprise, the grey is a nice contrast to the tan interior. Another plus is that being from an old Explorer, it has the blue display, which I'd rather have over green. I like the way it looks so much, that it's going to stay. I haven't wired it up yet. I do have the harness and temperature sensor, though. I hate wiring, and I'm gonna save that arduous task for another day! Haha

And here it is with the '06 mirrors:

Yes....yes, it's a hamburger haha. It's a What-A-Burger coupon I found at work. Only problem is, the closest one to me is 100 miles away :(

Oh, and the green and black brochure in the driver's side visor is from M.L. Leddy's. It's a custom boot store in the Fort Worth stockyards. They had room full of used, hand-made boots. I think the cheapest pair I saw was $1,600. And I thought my Ariats were expensive haha.

And the console is now wired, and everything works!

The Explorer I pulled it out of had the auto dim mirror and the visors (they were grey, though). I just wanted the console for the temp. reading and the compass. I like a basic car with no power options. I have no girlfriend at the moment, so my visors don't even have mirrors haha. And thanks :)

Thanks :) And the mirrors are definitely an improvement over those little flag things it came with. They're one of my favorite modifications I've made.

I know that I said I wouldn't do it earlier, but I looked at some of the auto mirrors, and you can turn the auto dim thing off if you want to. I may just install one now. I used to drive my mom's Navigator back in high school, and I remember hating that mirror dimming when I didn't want it to. Sometimes, it worked beautifully, though. I think that's as far as I'll take it, though. I don't want the lighted visors.

I have a green display plastic, would you want to trade your blue plastic for my green one?

I have an extra blue display cover around here somewhere. If you give me your address, I'll just send it to you.
