Its like Christmas for the Ranger!
If not aimed down a little they do blind people, a lot of people around here are dicks though and just don't care. Remember with having a lifted truck it raises the headlights too so you'll need to reaim them anyway.
EDIT by around here I mean my town, not the site.

Its kind of like illegal window tint. Its one of those things that they could get you for but probably won't. I would re-aim them out of consideration for other drivers on the road.
helps that you are lowered I'm sure. If I were to get any it would be for my mazda not my lifted Ranger. I have the best silverstars you can get for my halogens and they give off plenty of light and the brights are a major plus. I will use offroad lights if i need more light.
yeah get some silverstar bulbs, I have some pretty spendy ones, might have been like $60 I cant rember but they were the best ones I could get. they have a blue hue to them for the cool factor lol
You can get standard silverstars on the internet for around $20/pair. The are brighter and whiter, but they will burn out faster. Expect a year out of them if you use your headlights a lot. They are worth it in my opinion. You can buy the more expensive silverstar ultras that are supposed to last longer.
I can't stand the HID's in halogen reflectors, they throw light everywhere. They may be cool for the person who has them installed, but they cause problems for the other drivers. Plus the cheap chinese kits usually go through ballasts fairly often.
It is another thing with HIDs in a proper projector with a sharp cutoff.
If you want similar coloring to the guys running 5000k HID headlights, and 3000k HID fogs, you can do it with silverstar heads and nokya yellow fogs without the glare and light scatter.

Sorry for the thread hijack.

I had 4300K HID's in my truck at first, and was flashed ALL THE TIME, aimed low. So I switched to Silerstars and still get flashed, but I can flash them back. All I need are Nokya Yellows or Silverstar 9005's.
HID's do look pretty wicked though

Generally with a pattern similar to this. Notice how it is not scattering a bunch of extra light above the cutoff line?

You can also see how much more even the light output is. HIDs in the halogen reflectors are bright, but they have dark spots and bright spots everywhere, and usually throw extra light everywhere, including up into oncoming drivers.
Anyway I won't post in here any more since I seem to **** people off when I talk about HID retros. lol
okay, thanks for answering my ? I kinda figured they were in projectors but I wanted to know for sure, I'm thinking about the projector headlights ( black one's) cause the HID's do scatter as you have said. even pointing them down and to the pass, I still get flashed but now it's usually 1-2 carssince I re-aimed them last week.
I mount mine usnig the factory wire harness bolts by the radiator. I know your not asking me but, I have pics of mine just can't upload them cause my card reader won't work. :(
I LOL'd when i got pulled over for having my fog lights on. "Mandate states fog lights are to be treated just like high beams"....MY ***. Told me my headlights were blue.....I was an *** to the cop and proved they aren't blue....more like white compared to the yellow of halogens.
