Lowered trucks are like:

1) Socks and sandals.
2) Obese women and bikinis.
3) excessive back hair.
4) unibrow

All these things have purposes and a use. Just a little effort would have made them so much more useful! Let me, again, explain.

1) socks and sandals: don't the socks defeat the purpose of the sandals? why not wear shoes?
2) scantily clad obese women: just a few months of diet and excercise away from hot
3) excessive back hair: nothing is grosser than seeing someones back curls over their collar. You shave your face, shave your back!
4) unibrow: only use is on evil babies hell bent on global conquest.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is, if you're gonna buy a truck to lower it, why not buy a car and be 2 steps ahead from the start?
They look like a brain damaged supermodel to me. Looks good but non-functional. Actually a slammed truck looks broken to me.

Not to be too down on you draggers. Just my opinion, and there's lots of other stuff I don't like I aint pickin on ya lol.
Ya know..

I'll tell you the reasons why I love dropped trucks.
#1. Head room. I HATE riding in cars, because I'm tall, and I hate the fact that I cant wear a hat, and turn around and look out the window of a car window without knocking my hat off. It sounds stupid, but it's annoying having to lean my head to the side so that my head isnt up against the ceiling. In a Ranger, even a regular cab, you dont have that. I have plenty of head rooom, and I prefer to sit up more, like in my Ranger, than a car. I hope you understand.. Its just 8 times more comfortable in my truck than any car I've rode in.
#2. Cornering/handling. I LOVE to slam corners at speeds much faster than those yellow signs with the "recommended speed" on them. 45mpg? HA try 70+. I love driving my 01, which is a 4wd on 32's, it sets up taller, and I get alot of compliments on it, but point being, if I'm in the mood to go out and just run the hell out of something as if I'm some indy driver, will I take my 01? NO, I'll take the 98 because of the lower COG, added traction and stability.
#3. Functionality? How do you lose that? It would 100% depend on what kind of drop you have, IMO. I have a djm 4/5, and I would haul the same amount now with my truck as I do before. I've had it loaded up with mulch, and its not like I weakened the suspension or anything.. Oh and btw, My 98 dropped 4/5 rides 5 times nicer tahn the 01 4wd... so its not like it makes the ride any rougher by dropping a truck.

Sure.. I'm not *big* into the laying frame scene, its cool but still not my style. I love my djm 4/5 drop because I can corner. My 98 is my project truck, I'm going for a wanna be "lightning" look, but with a Ranger. The trucks can look good and sporty with the right wheels, etc.

That's nto to say, however, that I dont love lifted trucks. I love my 01, and I love to flex it on anythign I get a chance too. I hate the torsion bars. I owned a superlift kit, and sold it to Aaron that was banned here on R-F. I wished I hadnt sold it, but WHEN i finish my 98, and decide to lift the 01, it wont have torsion bars on it I lvoe to 4 wheel about as much as I love to corner and pretend I'm some sports car driver.

Its probably oen of those things that some people jsut dont understand. I dont understand the kids in their civ's etc. Vtech? Lol So I wont take it personal if you dont understand.

Bagged trucks are still lame. My buddy had a slammed truck on bags and I can't count how many times he had to buy brand new low pro tires because he kept popping them just driving normal down the street.

Potholes must own you, not to mention you have to slow all the way down to just about 1MPH to go over a little dip. Try hitting the dips at 50MPH, that will pucker your butthole.

i admire good work, not whether its lifted or lowered. both are your own creation for your own needs.

Just curious, how tall are you?

My head is only centimeters away from the roof of my Ranger, but in my Civic I have plenty of head room.

You must have no idea what your'e talking about. Like I said in my post, my 98 rides much nicer than my 01 4wd. Whether it's curves, obstacles(holes like you've mentioned), etc, the 98 does it all better

Disclaimer: It does it all better, with the slight exception of off-road ventures

6'2". I realize that's no record, but I sit up straight in my seat and have plenty of room in both trucks. I think it's the seats in the 4x4's that are "firmer". I've noticed in my 01 4wd x-cab that I set up alot higher in the cab, inrelation to how high up in the cab I am in the 98. But setting in my mom's taurus, buddy's stang, friend's cavalier, zx2, etc. I end up with my head either against the "ceiling"/roof, or tilted somehow. I like to set almost straight up

'Beard, that's one b/a truck you posted. I think i heard it was a s/c'd and TT'd Cummins full time 4wd.

Ah ok got it. I don't sit straight up, but I don't "gangsta lean" either. But I have noticed my seats are quite firm. Also there is that support brace bump going right over my head that is not found in the reg cab...

i personally would rather lift a truck than lower it...for the most part. i do plan on buying a gen1 or 2 ranger and swapping in a 302/5speed though, that will most likely be lowered slightly for performance not looks. i am not against the lowering of a truck at all, but i am %100 against the attitude that if it is 2wd it should be lowered. i think that is just a ignorant opinion. some lowered trucks, if done nicely are really nice. now bagged trucks are a different story...to me they are useless as far as being a truck goes, but they can still be nice show trucks. i admire any kind of customization to a vehicle. i myself would prefer to lift because i do enjoy offroading, whether it be in a 2wd or 4wd.

I hear ya. I love taking fast turns in my 4x4. The *** end gets really loose when you push it, razz the 4.0 and you can hold a nice tight line. Throw in a little bump steer thanks to the gawdaful tbars and you're laughing. I take nice tight 2 apex turn almost every day. It's yellow sign says 55km/h and I have been told you can take that turn at 110km/h in a red ranger.

I also have to say it's different when the truck is lowered and tubbed because it's a drag truck.
And as long as you can drive it without scraping everything I guess it's not so bad. Those one's sittin on the ground with the bed all cut up I think it's pointless. Like a h2. Or h3 lol.

One thing I must add: all these trucks in the pics have no ground effect kit. That is awesome, they look soooo ****yt on a truck, especially a ranger.

I'm 6'2 as well and never even thought about that. I haven't driven a car in months. My last one was a crown vic, no shortage of headroom there. I miss the 4.6 too. That car would have been awesome lowered, allready had air bags in the back too.

I wanted to lower my truck when I bought it but found it to be a pain in the *** so I lifted it. I would LOVE to get an xlt supercab and slam the **** out of it!

Meh, he ain't lying.
I take 'em that fast. 90 deg left hand turns (on to cross streets) at 55mph. You'd be amazed at how fast you can turn when you lower and stiffen up the sway bars. I'm still running stock size wheels and tires too. When I get better tires, it oughta get even more fun!

My whole thing against the "bagged" guys is functionality. I'm a sports car guy, but I need a truck for haulin stuff. So, I bought a truck, and turned it into a sports car. The only functionality I've lost is the bumper hitch. Not a big loss, and it will be replaced by a class3 when I get around to it. Now its more fun to drive, looks better (imho), and still does all the work. Hitting bumps at 50mph is some peoples source of fun, but hitting corners at 70mph is mine.

I never said you were, and it's not like I'm bs-ing you either. I didnt call you stupid, dont call me a liar. See.. you guys are soo "unexposed" apparently, that you don't know this stuff. Seriously, these trucks can handle DAMN GOOD if you lower it, upgrade sway bars, etc. Granted, they're still not "track ready", but man... you have no idea apparently. I'm not dissing you either, just trying to get my point across.

You can really light corners up in a little dropped regular cab Ranger with low profile tires, sway bars, etc..
