Put discs on my 1967 Mercury Cougar today
My friend Sean came over in his 68 Cougar to give me a hand putting on the Granada 11" rotor swap on my 67 Cougar so we could knock it out.

More pics of both cars, now!
Awesome swap, I have a car-fetish for upgraded brakes.:biggthump |
Nice dude. I love those year Cougars. Guy I work for has a 67 with 33,000 miles on it.
Both of those cars are nice! I bet it stops a lot better now.
Both cars are SWEET dude. I've always had a thing for the old cougars. Almost bought one once but just couldnt come up with the money.
The Cougar is, and will always be my favorite classic muscle car of all time. If I ever get the chance (and the money), I'll have one.
Both look like they are in excellent condition. More pictures are necessary! |
looks good, i remember doing the GVM conversion on my 68 mustang, best deal ever, got a 1978 mercury grand monarch for free,a nd robbed the front discs, and the disc brake rear end out of it
actually if you can find one, the 1977-1978 grand monarch's, and lincoln versalles have a disc brake rear end that is a direct bolt in do you have power booster or no? also i recommend putting the disc brake master cyl in it, i made that mistake in my stand, and left the non power master cyl in it, and when i put a booster in it the brakes went hay wire on me |
Nice upgrade. Both look like very sharp cars.
Does it still have drums on the rear or did you swap those as well?
Well the rears are still drums but I plan to take the rear end out of like a older Mach 1 so I can have limited slip and the rear rotors. Yeah it is power brakes from the factory so no problems there I put a proportioning valve in it to make it like a 60/40 on the brakes but unfortunatly the heads are off the car getting cleaned, shaved, and port and polished, I am also adding some roller rockers to it so it should be awsome when I get to drive it next more power and the brakes to stop it. Here are some pics from the last show I went to of my car and I don't have anymore of his because it was just resently his got painted and what not.

Sounds like you got everything planned out. Very nice Merc.
pics of the other car too! very clean, and look mean as hell
That is a very nice california special "spoiler" he has on his cougar, i would like to see more pics of both cars!!
Thanks guys, yeah it is finally getting to were I really want it to be I got it when I was 15 so its been like a 6 year project on low funds but I think it is turning out very good. Seans car has the Elinor kit on it from Gone in 60 Seconds, he is going more restomod with his car but I am going somewhat original because it has the original motor and trans.

very cool car, as far as the rear end, you'd really be happy finding a rear end out of either a grand monarch, or a versalles, they are a 9" and sometimes come with a trac loc, and disc brakes
damn, both cars look wicked!
OH wow! both gorgeous cars.
damn nice cars and nice swap
can i hump them both?
Both cars are pure sex.
If your car had a p***y I would f*** it. |
Lol thanks guys I am putting new cylinder head on the car next week that are shaved, port and polished and machined to match my cam so I am pretty exited about the extra power I will be getting I am also going with a roller rocker so that will help some too. I am getting the car ready for Fun Ford Weekend in Georgia
Very nice Cougar
sick cars! I love them both.
