recon running led lights
Just finished up an install of something I had looking to add to my truck for quite some time now. Anyways I purchased a set of Recon "Big Rig" Amber LED running lights from amazon.com. The 48" version since the 62" is too big for our rangers with the extended cabs.
This is how it came out:
And a little video of my truck with all the other lighting mods I have done and my hazards on.
I have all LEDs The tailgate bar is a recon bar as well.
I have turn signals on my mirrors using oznium strips(unfortunately they are slighty different color being more redish. The tail lights have a dual bulb setup and the top has L1224R's while the bottoms are 921s(i think) from v-leds.
So far I'm happy with how this little project turned out. It didn't take me but about an hour or two to install using the mounting hardware that came with the lights and my own bolts i picked up from home depot.
However I must say I was not impressed with amazon and the shipping as it was atrocious! I have no idea what happened(never had a problem with them before). First off I payed for two business day shipping in which they use Fedex where it wound up taking 4 days in transit. On top of that amazon didn't wrap in in a box so the retail box arrived all beat up with one side of open. In fact the mounting hardware had fallen out on our delivery truck driver. She told me was not happy about it and she would make write it up and that I could call Fedex if I had any problems. Well At least nothing was damaged however one of the mounting clips was missing.
I don't really feel like sending the thing back just for that so I'm going to contact Recon to see if they can send me a replacement mounting clip under warranty otherwise I'll probably just make due with 4 instead of 5 on my driver side.

As far as wired up they are run up over the wheel wells to my corners under my headlamp and tapped into the white/blue(turn signal positive), brown(running lamp positive), and black(ground) wires. The Recon kit wires are long enough to reach with just a little extra length left over(nothing that zip ties cant take care of). I would also recommend using a electrical wire fish. It sure made my life a lot easier during the install.

yeah bed lights would be sweet. I hope to get some for my truck eventually since I have the cargo cover. Its hard to see in there at night. Although instead of a kit I might make my own using something from oznium.com. Probably using either Ribbon strips or Piranha Bars under the bed railing would work out well.
