it was actually a SC 3.8. same motor I had in my GTP. even then it had 240hp and 280 ft lb of torque and was a low-mid 14 sec car.

Now if it was an 00-04 SS it had an n/a 3.8 that only made 200 hp. A 4.0 SOHC ranger is definitely as quick, if not a bit quicker then those.

yeah my bad i meant 3.8

Times where very consistent. The slip says Ford and Amelia or what ever and those are the lane sponsors. Look at my windshield and the number on the ticket

Inch or a mile right? haha

Yea that's still pretty cool that is shows what model your in. (Or whoever gets the print out.)
So basically the person who you ran against got their slip and it would have their make on the left and Amelia on the right? (where your numbers are?) Is that how it works?

SteelDirigible 04-09-2012 05:35 AM

No ford sponsors Dave's lane and Amalie sponsors the other lane.

Great stuff thanks for posting the vid and time slip. I've always wanted to see one for a stock Ranger :) Keep having fun with it and set a goal of getting a perfect .500 reaction time :)

I've done a lot of drag racing on my bike but haven't run my truck yet but plan to get out this summer.

Kinda random question for the stock 4.10 automatic guys. What speed/mph are you at while at the top/redline-ish of third?

Ranger4.0XLT 04-10-2012 05:54 AM

Of 3rd..gear? Are you talking about top speed at 3k?

PSIJOE 04-10-2012 09:08 AM

Just the mile per hour pegged at the top of third gear.

For example my truck at the top of third is right around 90mph. (five speed)
Just seeing the automatic equivalent. That's all.

ranger024x4 04-10-2012 09:48 AM

how long till this trans goes?

PSIJOE 04-11-2012 05:19 PM

If I leave my truck in 3rd gear and hit the gas by the time I need to shift (redline) I'm doing right around 90mph I'm not talking about where the govn is set at (imagine that was not there/non existent) What is the top speed you would achieve maxed out before or right at redline?

I.E. Another example. If I'm in second gear (manual car/truck) and I leave it in second and hit the gas till say the rev limiter what speed would I be going. Probably around 50mph. (don't quote me I have no idea. It's an example) Do you get what I'm saying?
I'm just trying to say what speed are you going if you leave it in 3rd gear and gun it till you hit readline/top of third? But in an automatic as opposed to the 5 speed manual.........

Does this make any scene to any of you???

at the track i hit 5700 in 3rd gear WOT but by the time i crossed the line i was in OD. the shift kit tipped my iced tea out of the cup holder scared the shit outta me at WOT the shifts are extremely firm and really wake you up

Firm and quick

So your mph at the end of your run was 84mph...You were still in 3rd gear at 5700 rpm. So if the auto trans doesn't shift and goes all the way to 6k rpm that means the auto trans is right on par-ish with the 5 speed manual trans as far as the top speed you will be going at the top of third/redline of 3rd gear......That is all I was asking and wanted to find out. Although I know your gearing and tire size is a bit off, but not by much.

Thank you Ranger Dave.
