Hi All
New to the forum and looking for some help.
A co-worker gave me a 1995 Ranger 2WD 5spd with a 2.3L and I can't figure out what is wrong with it. It will start (barley) and sort of rev up and then dies.
I checked the timing belt and the tensioner was broken, replaced the belt the tensioner and the tensioner spring but still have the same problem.
I also replaced the IAC valve.
The has 235K miles and I don't have any other info on it.
Any help would be appreciated.

Did you make sure to set the timing correct?

 

timing is set , unless I messed it up. TDC on the crank, diamond to diamond and triangle to triangle and nothing moved when I released the belt tensioner.
I also cleaned the MAF sensor and replaced the EGR.
Now it starts and runs only if your giving it gas.
I just put a code reader and it threw one code PO102, and the looks to be the MAF sensor
