2.3t in a 1989 Ranger

Hey guys, im new to this forum and wanted to see if some one had the set up im trying to reach or if they know about putting a 2.3t engine and trans in a 89 long bed ranger 2wd. I know somethings are going to be a little pricey depending on the exact set up but money its not that big of an issue if it does what I want. Power level I would like is around 350hp to the wheels and be a reliable driver. Just there is a lot of difference ive heard from the ranger trans and the SVO trans. was wondering if you could put an adapter plate and run a t5 or a tremec? not to mention the driveshaft. Not sure exactly. Any help at all I would really appreciate it. And I planned on doing a full swap and probably would just get a complete stand alone system. Let me know what you guys think. Thanks.

Hey there, I'm doing this now. I've a 87 t-bird complete. Ya got to have a T-5 nothing else will put up to the strain. If you are putting a 2.3 in it mine won't go. Don't have an answer yet. The motor mount brackets are different from the two. The Ranger Station . com tells you all you need except my problem. I Can't use my 8.8 because of the style. I'm putting a 56' ****** cab on my frame w/ a mild rat rod effect, more to the 50's style hot rod I guess. Keep me in touch.
