I got my plugs in with the intake on. Just takes some patience and 2 swivels.

97ranger xlt 12-08-2008 03:56 PM

i think it hit 80 mph once on a flat highway with no wind.. not sure if it was done yet but i was :boggled: so i lifted at that point:rambo:

Stryker 12-08-2008 04:01 PM

lol my truck will hit 100 no prob...
thats where my truck limits.
i can get to 100 mph in 4th gear about 4000 rpm.
i got a 4.0 with 3.73's and 235/75 tires

See, thats were the problem is. I have none. I need to learn to get some but can't.

timpat92855 12-08-2008 08:18 PM

I always break them. It took about 2 hours to change all 8 of mine. Thats with breaks because it was 98 outside then I was changing mine.

seth556 12-08-2008 08:48 PM

I've done 80 easily in my 4 banger, there's just not much of any sound insulation so all I heard was pssssssssss.

straighttoandrew 12-08-2008 10:19 PM

I hit 85 in my old 4 banger. It was a struggle.

Thank God for my current V6 :)

87xlt 12-09-2008 02:25 PM

Ive had my 87 2.3 up to 100 the speedo was on the reset stick for the trip odo LOL.

Bryan22 12-10-2008 04:55 PM

I'm not sure that my truck has a speed limiter, or if it has one, i never hit it. I'm pretty sure my 94 has seen close to 110 going down hill in 5th floored. lol. on flat ground it'll do 80 easy, I don't push it though, a ticket for 90 in a 45 would not be pretty.

mps01r6 12-16-2008 09:32 AM

down hill, in 4th, on 235/60/15's my 2.3 did right at 100mph, then shifted to OD/5th, the road planed out and i started loosing speed. so now if i wanna do over 100mph i just jump on the bike and i will be doing 100+ in 3rd easily. :).......... FTP!!!!!!

freddie 12-16-2008 09:38 AM

I had 3.73's, bfg 31's, and a 98 2.5L 5spd, and it went 95mph, where the speed limiter cuts in. 95 was max speed, but I wouldnt try to hold it at that speed. Its a truck...on 31's. I did it like, twice, at most.

sjwilson3821 01-10-2009 08:04 PM

I got my 08 4 banger to go to 114 on flat highway and then the governor kicked in.

rangerdanger01 01-14-2009 09:35 PM

i had my 01 stock and it hit 96 before it kicked in. now i have 31's on there and i went from 25 hwy to about 13. it seems like its overcooling and i was wondering if the coolant temp sensor has anything to do with it because thats what my buddy said it could be. and i was wondering what this throttle position sensor is and how does changing it help with mileage if your running 31's

Melt 01-14-2009 09:40 PM

OUCH! 13 hwy!!! check your alignment or maybe you need a regear cause that seems exceptionally bad

robert99ranger 01-14-2009 09:54 PM

I get about 18 highway at about 65-70

Melt 01-14-2009 10:03 PM

yea im stock tires and ive noticed i get terrible mileage if i take it over 70

robert99ranger 01-14-2009 10:05 PM

Ya, its ok though. I have seen like usually 26-28 in the city and even sometimes i was getting like 32 over break.

Melt 01-14-2009 10:06 PM

best ever for me was 29 and i think that was with a tailwind doing 60

wait, but didn't he mean he got the 13 mpg @ 96 mph? What should the mpg be at that speed?

kyle12201 01-16-2009 02:35 PM

Mine has a top speed of 75 down a hill with the pedal to the floor, pretty sad haha.

ah nvm

TheStig88 01-17-2009 05:49 PM

depending on the outside temp, and wind....mine varies from 75 to 85+
stock 3.73 gearing
and a carbed 2.3

on some days i can leave it in 4th and floor it and it will just peg out...no hills, no wind
other days it will take forever just to hit 70

with mine, it HIGHLY depends on outdoor temp,
i've got ring problems in the 3rd and 4th cylinder so it only gets good compression when its warmed up

once it is warmed up though i've got no problems with hitting 75

but i also get 18 mpg pretty consistently for city mileage
and about 24 for highway

Andrew R 02-01-2009 06:31 AM

with 203,000 miles on the clock and running on 3 cylinders I hit about 80mph :)

SVT01RANGER 02-01-2009 09:07 AM

back when i was going to pismo to get my edge bumper, heading down HWY 101 level grade... 97 MPH
