Ive hit 110 so many times I lost count by now. once it gets to 95 the climb is slow lol

jckb4000 03-09-2009 03:09 AM

I have gotten it to 115mph multiple times , and i believe now that i have taken my air-brake plastic mudflaps off it could do 120, but I'm a little scared because the bfgs are only rated for 107mph... next oil change i will give it a shot haha

comunistico 03-09-2009 10:42 PM

most ive done is 115, before i put a roof rack, not top speed is 104... prob ill take the back door one of this days and try again. not bad for a 4banger diesel :P

You should be able to do much better than 70 MPH.

You're due for a timing belt replacement if that hasn't been done. You should replace the spark plugs if you think they are original.

jaycheetwood 03-10-2009 06:40 PM

07Ranger 03-11-2009 01:50 AM

"stock" 4 banger and top speed dont belong in the same sentence

but thats just me. and ive maxed mine..100 :) was pretty easy till u hit 90, then u snail the rest

dirtysouth 03-12-2009 10:20 PM

my 01 2.3 5spd,limits at 98(give or take)on the ohio turnpike.all 4th gear.i went to work this morning and the wind was howling pretty good and i had to stay in 4th just to maintain 65mph.i have a cap and 235/75/15 wild countrys in the rear and 215/75 car tires in the front.empty bed with maybe 20 lbs of tools.im ready to upgrade after 3 years.

damn thats impressive!! i got 15 in stockers too and i dont think that mine would do 100 even if i left it in 4th. but then again i dont like to push the gerbals under the hood too much. they tend to get pissed off when i do that :)

bdr1 03-25-2009 06:49 PM

I hit 95 (on GPS) all the time on the interstate here................ (par for ATL highways)

held a consistant 85 with trailer, A/C, trailer and 2 race bikes coming back from Tally last fall.

ColdNapalm 03-25-2009 06:52 PM

my 98 5 speed would get up to 98 flat road but it took atleast 2 min to go from 93 to 98 and 98 is just absolute max unless theirs a hill involved! the highest i ever got was 109 down a big bridge... but thats with very small tires an a 14 inch rim...

robert99ranger 03-25-2009 07:39 PM

I hit 94 on the interstate on Monday. Rides so much better with the new ball joints.

red_rider 03-30-2009 10:33 PM

Haha, I actually just calculated the theoretical top speed of my truck for a homework problem in my fluids class. Based on a Cd of 0.40 (looked it up somewhere) and hitting the full 112 hp, I got just over 108 mph. Now I just need a place to test it :drive:

Uh, considering you should really do them every 20K, yes.

Ranger24 04-01-2009 08:04 PM

I drive a 1997 ford ranger. 2wd with 4.10 gears. I have 30" tires and i topped out at 117

Sprock 07-27-2022 02:39 PM

I had a 1999 ranger 2.5L 5speed single cab 2wd. Cold air intake, shorty header with a downpipe beside the transmission. Loud af. Had a better fuel pump, bigger injectors, minor head work done. Was never an issue for my truck to see 125mph.
