I found a, 84 ranger with with a 2.0 in it. It is carbureted and has a 5 speed. I want to put this motor in my '88 after I rebuild it. I plan on replacing all gaskets, bearings, rings, and seals. Will this motor work in my '88 if i just swap manifolds? Any help is appreciated

 

Is the engine in your 88 carbureted? Another thing is that there will be some wiring differences. The 88 will have some sensor that the 84 won't and so on. I think your going to need to do a little more than switching the manifolds though.
