Hi i'm new here name is doug, i have this issue with my ranger (92 2.3 8 spark plugs)

When i want to give it WOT(wide open throttle) it just kinda nose dives, or bogs really bad. It has done this for quite some time now, so yesterday i changed the fuel filter and air filter hoping that it would change the way it drove but low and behold that did nothing for it. In the past i have used Chevron techron fuel system cleaner, but to no avail.

I have not changed the plugs, but if that might help i could do that, the prevous owner said he did have them changed just before i bought it 4 years ago, but i have only put 10,000 miles on since then.

Any other ideas would be great,

what gear are you in when it bogs down?...the pre 01.5 4cyl rangers arent known for being powerful

 

It can be any gear, if I let off just a little bit she will pick back up and go. But WOT just isn't there, like if i need to go up a hill(lots of them here) it just bogs till you let off just a little

 

sounds like a normal 4 banger ranger...do you know what rear gears you have?

 

Nope i don't, I think they are pretty tall, but not sure just what they are. I like running smaller tires. when I got it had 215 75 14's on it, I found some 15" jeep wheels and put 215 60 15 s on it, made it a little better but still bogs (or i like to call it falling on its face)

The blue one is mine 238,000 miles 5 speed the gold one is my sons 94 with 75.000 paid a dollar for it. needed a sub frame and brake lines LOVE MY SATTYS i have 6 of them that i keep going.

Yup i love them, thanks got lots to do today, hope someone will chime in to help if there is any help, or is it just the nateur of the beast?

 

Check your timing, set the crank gear to TC and the cam gear has a notch that lines up with a mark in the peep hole in the timing cover. My truck used to bog down when the timing belt skipped.
