97 Ranger gas filling problem
97 Ranger gas filling problem
97 Ranger, 2.3 engine, 175k,
Just bought vehicle and found out that when filling gas tank I have to have the flow rate into tank at just about trickling. I looked at the filler neck hose to the frame but could not see any further, need to remove box to get to tank for inspection.I know there is a hose inside of hose so cannot inspect visually. I do have a intermittent P1443 code and I am getting vacuum line to replace bad lines now. I believe fuel tank and lines have been replaced but not 100% sure.
Any ideas as what the problem could be. Is it possible the vent cansister in the tank would be bad.
Thanks

They have a problem with the fill pipe on 93-97 model, the pipe would sometimes split or with the box settleing,it would get squished.Once you pull the box you will be able to see a lot better.Getting tough to find a new one.
Thanks for the input, will have to do as you say, lift the box up and inspect. That is what I suspect it is. Ebay has some for $49 shipped.
