!987 Ranger Ignition Housing
!987 Ranger Ignition Housing
Guys... Please help me with this. I'm so annoyed. I have a 1987 Ranger, Manual transmission. About two years ago my buddy borrowed my truck, the key got stuck so he punched the ignition. Now, I'm finally replacing the Ignition switch and the housing for it. I already removed the steering wheel.
My problem is taking the ignition housing off the steering column. It looks like a bearing that is stuck on the column that is keeping the housing from being removed. Some one help me because I'm going to trash this ranger if I can't figure something out.

hey bud, keep in mind there are very few guys here that can help you out with a truck that is almost 26 years old. how bout you have a little patience and maybe try searching through a haynes manual or other manuals.
Sorry Bro. I just joined today! As for your column. I would suggest replacing with a tilt column like in a late year 88 to a 90. The straight columns are are to find parts for if you mess them up. Hope this helps!
Just swap in a tilt column its easier than you think total of like 6 bolts i think two holding the column to the dash and 3 on the firewall and one holding the column and the box shaft together unhook all wiring. Now you will want to find a tilt column with the same setup as yours like if yours has the cruse controll buttons make sure the replacement is the same.
Glad to see someone else with an 87! Good luck man!
