THIS THREAD IS WORTHLESS W/O VIDEO! Bad ass idea man! Your wish is my demand. From inside: Attachment 179280 Attachment 179281 Attachment 179282 Attachment 179283 Me and Dad: Attachment 179284 Attachment 179285 Attachment 179286 Attachment 179287 Mounts w/o the blower: Attachment 179288 Attachment 179289 We painted almost everything that we had to make Grabber green. Couple videos. Sorry they suck, I didn't have the resolution set. The smoke is just from oil on the header. http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n...h_MVI_2797.jpg The intake blew apart, that's why it lost power. http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n...h_MVI_2798.jpg Boost: Straight up is 15 psi. http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n...h_MVI_2799.jpg |
NIce looking set-up!! Can you post some more pics of the piping plz...
Nevermind.. I was a little behind LOL.. |
Right now it is just plumbed up with rubber hose. It is temporary, we need to re design the inlet on the intercooler before we can run the permanent piping. We just wanted to run it, so we plumbed it up without the intercooler.
|
That sounds wicked haha. Defn fitting to the license plate
|
That ruuber tube definately needs to go, it's not letting in nearly as much air as needed.(u prob. already knew that) What kind of intake is going on their? Tuning it?
|
Yeah, I know. Not sure what we are going to do yet. The intercooler will be behind the front bumper, so that's where the have to go with it. we might use aluminum tubing. Our biggest concern is dropping the pressure though, it loses fuel anywhere over 2500 rpm. It breaks up and start pinging. Even if we were to get it richer, 14 psi is just too much for a 200,000 mile motor.
|
Yea 14 psi will start melting pistons if its leaning itself out. The fuel problem will be tough to figure out on yours since its still obo-1. I dont know of any one that can reflash your computer for it to see the boost. You can always just add a larger fuel pump and a pressure regulator and just play with it til you learn what it likes.
|
Yeah, that's what I was thinking, but I don't know how the stock internals will hold up to 14psi, even when I get the fuel problem worked out.
Does anyone know what ratio I would need to run on the pulleys to get the boost down to between 5 and 8 psi? |
Do you know the diameter pulley on the supercharger now?
|
cant you get a larger crank pulley from an underdrive set to slow down the blower? Keep in mind that even though it probably made 8psi on the T-Bird its 1.5 Litres larger than the 4 banger. Thats why ya got the pressure way up there. Id try a larger crank pulley first, then play with the fuel pressure too. Short of a chip its not gonna be easy to deal with the computer.
|
You can always find good piping from muffler shops. Usually in their throw away/recycle bin you can find some pieces with good bends and weld them together to tie into the intercooler..

Update:
Today we finished mounting and rough plumbed the SC. We just went direct to the plenum without an intercooler. It runs! But, we have wayyyyyyyyyy to much boost. It breaks up at high RPMs and blows oil everywhere. It is a torquey little bastard though. We put a pressure gauge in and it is at about 14 psi. oops. We need to figure out how big of a pulley we will need to get this thing down to around 5 psi. Right now it is running at a 2:1 ratio off the crank. I'll have pics and a couple vids in a little while. |
Not sure if you've said this or not but what are you using this for? Just a DD? Just for fun?
Nothing really? Looks good and nice work. |
sounds wicked
cant wait to see it all done i have some ideas for my 2.3 now........ |
OK, thats just bad ass.
I just got on the phone with my buddy who has a 2.5L and we've gotta figure out a way to do this to his when he pays it off and gets another truck! |
Thanks guys!
Adam, this truck is just a beater. My blue truck is my DD. However, it has always been a backup vehicle for when my truck is broken, or when I have it apart doing something. We are trying to keep it as reliable as possible for that reason. |

you might try getting the MAF injectors and computer from a t-bird turbo..... that'd probably help in a big way as far as getting the fuel closer to right. with stock injectors and maf and obd-1 you're gonna have a helluva time getting it to run right.
|
Sounds killer. Can't wait to see it with all the kinks worked out. Great work!

I have the MAF and Throttle body from the SuperCoupe, but I am only using the TB right now. I have the stock 2.3 MAF on it now. What about the 2.3T Mustang? |

larger drive pulley(sc)= less boost |
