Crank sensor(new) lasted a week

Hello. I bought a new crank sensor from Amazon, installed and engine started right away, it worked real good. After a week, died and no sparks, fuel ok. I tested the crank sensor and I read 8 and 10 volts instead 0 and 10 v. Can an overcharge from alternator fry the sensor. 93 Ranger 2.3.

Thanks from Chile.

Over 15volts can fry any auto electronics

But sounds like a bad part unless it has come loose in its holder

The "single plug" on what??

Crank sensors don't have a single wire plug

Alternators can have a single wire jumper plug called Stator, image here: https://forum.ih8mud.com/proxy.php?i...cabe25768079b0

Short, usually white wire, jumper from 3 wire plugin to single plugin, "S" to "S" in the picture

Yes, that's most likely the shield wire so a ground to reduce interference to the signal
