Drivers side fuse panel 97 2.3L fuse#2 slot
Drivers side fuse panel 97 2.3L fuse#2 slot
OK maybe I'm a dummy for not checking these things often. I looked at my fuse panel to make sure the fuses were OK after check engine light displayed. I noticed Fuse slot #2 position was empty. I looked at the owners manual and a Haynes manual and they didn't agree in diagrams.
Is #2 slot an empty slot on a 1997 Ford ranger 2.3L?

According to the Ford wiring manual, fuse position #2 is not used on a 97. If you have a check engine light, it is not likely that it has anything to do with the dash fuse panel.
To find out why you have the CEL, go to a dealer or parts store and have the diagnostic trouble codes read. That will lead you to the problem.
