Sure you can delete it. Would need a custom tune to turn the EGR off in the tune. Is it good or bad? Depends why you want to delete it. Some say it decreases MPG...

don't delete it. you should do a search and find out what it does then tell us what you think about deleting it. I shut mine off with a scan tool and so did the truck.

yeah i was goin to, but its just to much work, i always thought that it was a useless thing, considering my last car didnt have egr, didnt really understand the whole concept behind it till latter today. but i think i might just clean it, whats the best way to do this does anyone know, im just trying to get better mpg out of this lil thing, but so far all ive done to mine is the exhaust, and i got a ported intake manifold just waiting to be installed, along with my intake, spark plugs, oil change, and possibly a ac delete if i cant fix it, also wondering if anyone has deleted the factory powersteering, wondering if its a pita to steer with out it. had it deleted on my maxima and i loved it. was wondering if it would be any different

idk i blocked mine off by making a solid gasket, same gas milage as before, a little bit HP (very little did better on the hill test) just keeps the air coming in fresh for 89 probly not a good idea though with newer trucks with mor advanced computers, my truck doesn't even turn the check engine light on for it still gives a code thats about it barely even *****es about it.

yeah i gott alot of people sayin to just leave it alone.......but im just goting to clean it out, im goin to start working on it this week hopefully try and get the mpgs up before gas hits 5 bucks a gallon..........but yeah i might try hooking up water meth injection to it so that it will get better mpgs, and get it tuned for it. but its an idea more or less. i still might delete the power sterring and ac since its pretty much useless.

water/methane injectiions? ive heard about methane set up. but thought it was more of a tiny hp adder over a mpg increase. not quite sure on it tho.

i have no issues steering my 08 on 225's with out powersteering, harder to crank yes, but no worse then a honda with out powersteering when both are parked.

water meth is for cooling on high heat applications with out the option of a cooler air set up like nitrous or a turbo where no heat exchangers are able to be installed. the meth does increase octane which allows for more timing and helps control the burn on high hp applications but on a stock motor its completely pointless.

but if water/meth is set up right then u can get a increase in mpgs. for all u guys who dont know what water meth injection is, its an injection set up that injects small amounts of water and methanol into the combustion chambers. through this whole process u can run more timing, have a cleaner motor due to the steam effect from the water and the methanol increases the octane rating, it also cools the intake charges by 60 degrees or so. u can go to http://www.snowperformance.net/ for more info.

Icon2 Do you need a egr delete kit?

For the egr delete, you can use the egr delete kit to help you improve the performance of your car.

I wonder if the EGR delete gets a bad rap because if the egr valve fails, it produces a lean condition (regarding to too much air coming in like a vacuum leak at all times)? Or did Ford engineer the engine to have a perticular combustion process along with the burned exhaust gases and by blocking this off it would promote a lean condition or too hot of a combustion?

Food for thought...
