Flashing check engine light?

99 ford ranger xlt, 5 spd 4cyl:

Fix one thing and another issue crops up. so i had a high idle, fixed it by replacing the IAC gasket. It had jerky throttle, so i replaced the TPS. Both issue are now gone. Sadly I had to take the TB off the truck on monday to get the old TPS off. Had to go get new screws and by the time i got back i ran out of light. I go to put everything back on the next day, but its raining. Whatever i put everything back in, fire the truck up and other than a bit of a rough idle the truck runs great. Fast forward to today, i take the truck out to go to work (i usually take the bus) and the idle is worse, feels like only 2-3 of the cylinders are firing properly, and it has 0 power going up hills. Then the check engine light starts flashing at me. On the drive home it did the same.

Has anyone ever delt with something like this?

worst part of it all, Today was my last day at my old job, and i start my new one tuesday, and i need to drive my truck to my new job, and i'm supposed to go camping ...

after some searching it seems that a flashing cel means an active misfire. Off to get some new plugs and wires.

Are you sure the TB is not leaking? Flashing cell means that there is immediate risk of damage to the cat convert/very bad misfire.

115k on the truck.

And i hope the Tb isn't leaking, i also replaced the gasket that mounts the Tb and had to replace the TB itself about a month ago.

Also, before going to the part store I took a look at the wires plug and coil. The coil looked like it has never been changed, so i bought a replacement. I knew the plugs and wires were going to be due soon so might as well change them now.

i'm about to go put everything on.

So took it out for a spin after changing only the 4 combustion sparkplugs, wires and the coil for that side. (what a PITA it was too) Truck runs great, better than it ever has in the time that i've owned it. Thanks for the tips guys, its time for a beer.
