I am new I hope I have place this in the correct thread. I have a 97 2.3lm the other day I drove the truck all day no issues but when I got in it that night I made it about 1/2 mile up the road and it just shut off no warning. I have replaced the fuel filter and the fuel pump is whining when I turn the key. I have fuel pressure and even made sure my alternator tested good. Where I go from here? Thanks in advance.

 

With a no start the best approach is to eliminate possible issues with a few tests.
First test is to spray some fuel(Quick start-ether) into the intake and crank the engine.
If it fires up then dies your fuel system is the problem.
If it doesn't fire then Spark or compression is the problem.

Pull out a spark plug and crank engine, you should hear a nice loud "whosssh" as air comes out of spark plug hole, if you have a compression tester even better, looking for above 130psi(with other spark plugs in place).
2.3l has a timing belt and it can break, that will cause a no start.

Check spark on the spark plug that is out, nice bright blue spark, FYI only the exhaust side coil works while cranking so use one of those spark plug wires for the test.
