you do know that they race trucks and cars with the same engine right? been asking around. the easiest way to give this truck more power as ive asked around is to put a turbo in it out of a turbo coupe or a svo and give it a CAI and the simplest way is if yours is about an 89 to 96 or 97 it has a air intake muffler that you can take out its located in the hose between the air filter and throttle body. and also you can take and block of the EGR with a peice of sheet metal cut out from the pattern of the old gasket. just be sure to get a new one lol. so there are ways to increase HP and torqe. you guys just didnt know.

not to be a dick here, but if you already new the answer to your origional post, why did you ask? i think what these guys may be trying to say is HP aint cheap so either sink a bunch of money into the 4 banger with a turbo and such or sell it and get something with more power.

2.3 wasn't meant for power. It was made for mpg's. You really can't get to much more out of your engine without putting a good hunk of doe into it. If you really want more power then get a 4.0 with a supercharger. That'll get you some power!! :D

Bwahaha. You have no idea what you are getting into if you think you can just buy a turbo and stick it on. The 2300 is VERY capable of making a lot of power, but it is far from cheap and I do believe you asked for CHEAP solutions.

"Roller cams were installed from 1989 on in Rangers and 1991 on in Mustangs." Not true my 87 ranger has the roller cam.
