I need your opinion

I own a '98 Ranger with a 2.5 four cylinder. I really like my truck and have been modifying it as time goes by but I really want more power. I've always wanted to put a V8 in a small truck like this but I'm not sure if that's the right direction to go in. I have the tools and knowledge to make the change but is there a better choice? Money is a concern and this is also my daily driver. Would it be a better choice to just sell my truck and start over with one with a larger motor or switch the motor in mine and is there a better engine choice other than a V8?

are you totally against a v6? why not swap in a 4.0 Liter ranger engine?
