Lift and bigger wheels and tires?

I am looking to do a one inch suspension lift and run 16x8 wheels and 31's on my truck. It is a 2.5 1998 Ford Ranger XLT i have stock 14x8 wheels and 225/75/r14. Do i need to regear the rear end? I don't want my truck to lose what horsepower i do have. And what do i need to regear it to?

First why 16s? tires will be more expensive the 15s. Second, what gears do you have now (search how to find this, it has been asked thousands of times), and is it stick or auto? I have 31s on my 97 with jus front coil spacers, but they cleared fine without them, no rub or anything, they jus looked cramped so i added the spacers for comestic reasons.

You won't fit 31's on a 1" lifted 2wd 98+ Coil sprung ranger. Believe you'll have to have the 2" coil spacer up front to make them fit. Find out your gear ratio you have right now. I put my old 31's on my brothers 2.5L 2wd...only on the back....and it was a dog with 3.73's. If I were you, I'd find a 4.10:1 Ford 8.8" rearend. cheaper, and you get a correct ratio for a lifted 4cyl 2wd ranger with only 31's.

So i looked and i have an 87 or open 7.5" with 4.10's....So if i do the 2" coil spacers and 2" blocks in the rear i should be able to fit the wheels and tires that i want on there with out loosing power right? do i have to get longer shocks for the coil spacer lift?
