one thirsty b!tch
i have an 01 xlt with the 2.5 in it and i was showing my buddy how i did my CAI and i was like huh that's, funny, my antifreeze overflow tank is completely empty. i got a brand new radiator two months ago because the old one had a hole in it. so two months ago i could find the leak and i knew what was wrong with it. I thought maybe one of the hoses wasnt on properly but i can find NO external leaks. I was wondering if anyone has heard of the 2.5 having problems with the intake gasket. My brother had a 2001 grand am GT which is notorious for the intake gasket going bad, he has to refill his antifreeze every 60 miles or so and he has had it fixed twice already. I was considering this as i keep losing antifreeze but it hasnt gotten that bad yet so im looking for any suggestions as to what it might be.
i believe there is one coolant line in the intake, atleast thats what i remember in my 01 2.5L when i did the plugs... maybe you just had a big air pocket in the system, i'd top off the rad., and fill the reserve back up, and keep a good eye on it
well i filled it back up, and the radiator was actually from april (5 months ago), so it cant just be an air pocket. i filled it two days ago and its gone down about a quarter of the tank, so its not a huge leak, but its definitely going somewhere
Check the lines coming out of the overflow. Mine had a leak and I lost a lot of fluid out of there and couldn't figure out where it was going. Slid a small hose clamp on there and havn't had a problem since.
