replacing transmission fluid line
Hello. I want to replace the transmission inlet line / the one coming out the bottom of radiator, and am wondering the best and easiest way of removing the old one to put in the new one.
do i need to remove any major componets to pull this line out? like, the radiator and fan housing, things surrounding the retaining clip? do i need a hoist or just a jack? what tools do i need?
thank you

If you just have a small leak, you can cut out the leaking section, and reconnect using fuel line. You will need to install two screw type clamps on either end(just for assurance) to hold the spliced in fuel line in place. Of course the cooler line should be cleaned.
If you have to fish new ones in place, my experience is that you start at either end, underneath the radiator support, and over the crossmember where the motor mounts attach. It is not fun.
The splice was a very common practice at transmission shops as it allowed removal of the transmission for repair without having to get wrenches in close to the case.

tmwalsh0 thank you for your response. i actually don't have a transmission line leak. there isnt a particular reasaon why i am changing them, as theres nothing wrong with my current one.
actually, my engine is a 4 liter. i am changing the 4 liter inlet line with a 2.3 liter inlet line. they look like they will fit, after close examination; and i just want to do it. no other reason.
when i put in the new line, purchased through ford parts, do i still need to clean the new line? especially if i had plugged each end.
i will not be cutting anything. and will just be removing one line and switching in the other.
i do have pictures available
