timing belt replacement and rebuild 1997 ranger 2.3

I have searched every ranger forum there is and cannot find my answers I'm looking for. OK here's the deal, I was driving my ranger and it dropped a valve and hit the piston, put a hole in the number one piston and was down for a while. Finally got working on it and got the head rebuilt, replaced the piston, and put everything together. I lined the timing marks up right and the keyway on the crankshaft at 12 o'clock like the Haynes manual said too. Put everything together, crank it up and now there's a top end knock. Any ideas as to what it could be and to double check, what timing marks on the camshaft and oil pump pulleys should line up to the pulley hind cover? Need help need my truck back.

Well we (my dad and I) have an I idea to what the "knocking" is. We think that it is the starter not fully disengaging an the flywheel is making contact, or the starter is in a bind and the flywheel is making contact. Ran out of daylight today so going to pull starter tomorrow after work. I will keep y'all posted. Thanks for reading.
