Update and more help needed
Hello all! I posted about a year ago about some problems with my 98 2.5. Turns out one of the pistons had a huge gouge in it. Decided to get a new motor put in it. thought all would be good but no more than 15 miles into it and it shut off while driving, well i mean as i pulled up to a stop sign it stalled out when put into neutral and foot taken off of accelerator. Ive done various things to it the past month including replacing the iac, egr. These 2 things helped for a short while, like 5 miles and it started doing the same stuff. Shutting off when I let off of gas. I then replaced throttle body gasket and just now replaced maf and checked pcv valve. i have it idling in the driveway right now but if i give it hard gas it shakes and shuts off. Let me know what you think. Aslo had the alternator tested and it was good. Any thoughts will help.
Reads like low fuel pressure
1998-2011 Rangers need 60psi fuel pressure at the injectors, there is a test port on the engine to test pressure
IAC valve is how the computer keeps the engine from stalling
IAC valve can only be replaced with Motorcraft or Hitachi brand, just FYI
Use a volt meter and test the 2 wires unplugged from IAC Valve, should read 11 to 12volts with key on engine OFF
There is a 3 wire throttle position sensor(TPS) unplug it and see if engine idles OK
Engine should idle high automatically when cold, if that doesn't happen then replace ECT sensor just on speculation
ECT sensor sets the Choke for cold engine running
ETC sensor has a grey/red wire and uses 5volts
Temp SENDER, for dash temp gauge, has a red/white wire, and uses 12volts so not the same thing
