What does this light mean?
I've got a 86 Ranger and the "emiss" light is on

I assume this means something is up with the emissions system but I haven't looked into anything. I don't have any manuals or anything but I was wondering what this usually means. My guess is someone took off a smog pump or something similar.

Won't codes be stored for this? Can you start there by reading/looking at the codes?
