What should I do while the engine is out.

So I got an oil pressure problem and I'm gonna pull the motor to get the oil pan off. Anything I should do while I got it pulled. Its got 388,000 Miles.

Is it an auto or stick? Rear main was definitely a good suggestion. With those miles I think I would check all gaskets and seals. If it's a stick check your clutch, pressure plate, throw -out bearing and pilot bushing, check your flywheel, feel for texture, take some Emory cloth to it and have a good look. Since the engine is out go ahead and take care of your tune up if needed. All of us experienced with 2.3's know that plugs can be a pain in the ***, being comfortable sure makes this easier. My main concern would be having an engine with miles that high with an oil pressure issue. Was it ran with low pressure long? Honestly it's probably about time to tear in to it while it's out. Maybe even just find another with much lower miles. In my region Ford 2.3's are abundant and cheap. Why not treat yourself? Your obviously going to spend a lot of time( money) and cash messing with this thing, when you could spend $300-500 and a couple days tops and be cruising with the pep of 100k or less.

What ever you do with your engine, get another or put the old one back in, now is a great time to look at your front end suspension and maybe clean and then paint the engine bay.

Change all the steel brake lines while you have room to work.

Flush heater core. Replace all coolant hoses and vacuum lines.

The engine and transmission is in fantastic condition. It just has a lot of sludge built up in the oil pan causing it to take like a split second to build pressure on a cold start. I really don't want to tear into or replace an engine in such great shape for its miles.

Spark Plugs are a great idea, I'll check the brake lines.

Awesome idea coating everything. POR 15 ?

I would bet your main and rod bearings are shot. And while you're there, whats $200 and a 2 hours.
