2wd Coil Sprung SAS question

I've ben thinking about doing a SAS for a while now. I know pretty much all that is needed, but the issue is that im 2wd at the moment. I know I would need a 4wd tranny and t-case, but thats not important. My question is, seeing as I'm coil-sprung, could I just get an axle and lift coils, and use the same OEM coil mounting location, or would I have to use a better mounting location? If not, this is pretty straight forward for me, and makes my life a lot easier.

all the parts and work you will need . it would be cheaper to buy a 4x4 beater
and i think that kind of work would be a pain in the a$$

would I really need that much? It seems like i could use the same coil buckets that are built into my frame and just get lift coils and a bronco d44. I know im very capable of doing this, I just need to know if its possible and if so, how much work/more work is involved.

I thought about it too....from my research, the problem will be finding a spring to fit in your coil bucket. It is not a standard size (diameter)

PS -> if you find one let me know.... :)

Check out james duff. They have stuff that goes up to 97 for d44 swaps. New coils buckets and everything. With a little fab skills it'll work

That kind of coil bucket isn't made for the flex you get out of a SA.

Another problem is finding an axle that's actually narrow enough to mount the coil mounts on the axle as close together as the coil buckets are on the frame.

The other option and the best if you know what you're doing is to cut the frame and plate it up... don't even consider that unless you're very good with fabrication tho.

You would be better off getting a 93-97 4.0 4x4. The spring buckets line up with a dana 30 out of a jeep and you won't need to mess with the steering box. and you will have the same hp and more torque in teh 4.0 and not have to worry about swapping the transmission, installing a transfercase, and new drive shaft.

I'm making this all up since I don';t know the specifics but...

I believe with an EB44 you can use teh coil buckets. Or actually, you remove yours and weld on F150 or Bronco coil buckets to work with the EB axle. But then yah, it's relatively simple and straight forward.
