06 FX4 "numbers"?

I'm looking at an 06 FX4. I've only seen pictures as it's 2 hours away. It doesn't have the chrome tow hooks (not sure if that makes a difference) and out of curiousity I figured I would ask the guy some questions about it. The axle code is R7 (L/S 8.8 with 4:10's) and he said under SPR it was 11KK. I know the 1's stand for #1 bars but what about the leaf springs? Is KK what comes on the FX4's or is it CC? I'm just trying to clarify something here...Anything else to look for?

My question is about the SPR. Is it 11KK in FX4's or not?

I think you can have #1 bars in any truck. My fx4 says 1C witch are not #1. Also im not 100% sure but i dont think the fx4s have different leaf springs.

Why, if the one he is looking at has the L/S 8.8 with 4.10s?

The "1" refers to #1 torsion bars. I'm trying to figure out if this thing is actually an FX4 or a Sport model.

my 2006 FX4 has:

Axle: R7

SPR: BBCC

what does this actually mean? how do you tell if you have #1s?

this would be good to know, because likely within a week or so, i'll be putting on 285/75R16s... so i'd like to know how well the torsion bars will stand up to getting cranked up.

You have any pics? I know the chrome hooks are just on level 2s, but im pretty sure the torsion bars can be different spring rates on different fx4s so i dont know if that will help you figure out if its an fx4.

hey that's really interesting... thanks for posting it.

so i guess i have "B" torsion bars, and medium leaf srpings?

i found something questionable though... my truck has code "Z" under the "R" segment, meaning AM/FM stereo CD with clock.

my truck came with a ford cassette tape player. perhaps it was swapped in at request by the dealer?

Here's a link to the truck...2006 Ford Ranger FX4
It has a towing package. What i'm trying to figure out is why would they have different leaf springs. Wouldn't ALL FX4's have the same suspension setup? Ford is WACK.

my springs are 'BBKK' the K springs are junk, mine had less than 20,000 km (maybe 15,000 miles) and they were arched over the overload spring with an empty bed

if it were a sport it would have white guages, I doubt anyone would go that far to change a sport into an fx4, also look at the shocks, I think there different on the FX4 to the sport 4x4, they should say heavy duty on them and of course the FX4 has the two tone paint and odd colored radio bezel aswell, thats not a sport

Ya. What springs do you have on yours BLK? I don't mind the auto tranny, my girlfriend can't drive a stick. Thanks for clarifying it's a FX4 though. I was told that it was owned by an older man who had cancer and died so his wife traded this and another vehicle for a car at this dealership. 9,851 miles is nothing on an 06 truck. It's finding the money that's the problem!

i've got number 1 bars. Not all fx4's are the same, the level2's have bilstein shocks.

So after PMing back and forth, NOW i see this thread! lol.

Mkay....truck in question I don't think is a Level II, it's merely a Level I aka Fx4 Off Road...XLT with small little upgrades. Every LII I've seen had C bars. One step down from LII would be the Fx4 Off Road. Plus, it don't have the chrome 'loop' hooks as you said. K's and C's came on the standard Fx4's/XLT's.

Tom, POST THE PICS!!!

EDIT: Saw the link...helps to read the thread! I'm such a noob.

That truck is an oddball!! Smokers package is rare these days, normally it would have a black cubbyhole by the airbag switch. No LII gauges(black w/ silver rings), standard hooks(would have silver loops), no Level II badge on the door. I thought all factory tow package trucks got the C leaves, but now I'm questioning my knowledge... I know I put a factory tow pkg on my truck(which has K leafs).

06+ Fx4's are kinda fuzzy in my head....I must get to find my brochures and gain my knowledge!!! Right now, I really can't remember if the standard Fx4 package got the two tone or not for 06+!!
