Icon14 Sway bar links

I just replaced my sway bar links today and it was difficult to get them off because they were really old, but the difference in the ride was good. Only a 20 dollar replacement. I would suggest to everyone to replace them.

That sucks. The ride only improved to the point when i hit pot holes or speedbumps, it is smoother going. Did you do front or back ones? I was told i should do the back now. I hope they are as easy as the front!!

my truck only has front, more than likely you dont have a rear one either unless your truck is one of fords random trucks that got one.

Really, when i got the parts from NAPA, they asked if i was looking for the front or the back. That must mean they had something show up for the back. I don't know, i will look at it tomorrow!!

I just wait till mine brake, then I replace them. After they brake though and you ride around a bit with them off, you get a lot more body roll in the front and It can really dip down when taking sharp turns. I actually replaced mine not to long ago and it feels much stiffer up front. Now, 2wdranger, did you use a torque wrench on the links when you installed them?

Hi 2wd ranger,

I'm getting a mean "clunk" noise comming from my left side and it's only when I turn left. I was told it was my sway bar or the links/bushings... is this the same thing you replaced? How easy is it exactly? I wouldn't mind doing it myself if I can get a lil tutorial...

Please advise

hey prerunner-ranger, maybe you should make sure your lift or something isn't clunking. it could be one of the bolts or so are loose.

I'm pretty sure it's not the lift as it's only a spindle with some king shocks. I just went out and checked it again, as I had my buddy rock my truck back and forth I found out the sound is comming from just under the driver side floorboard. I don't think it's even the sway bar bushing as I push on the metal under the floorboard and it stopped. I wonder if some JBweld will fix this....

Because I didn't use a torque wrench. I looked in my service manual and it said 50lbs torque and I tried that and the bushing kept on squashing down and it wasn't getting to 50lbs torque. O well, lol.
