2000 Ranger 2 wheel abs or 4 wheel abs?? Please help

2000 Ford Ranger Extended Cab 2WD

I have been trying to buy my brakes for over a week now and it seems like every ranger has a different braking system. First I had to find out what kind of support, spring or torsion, then I had to find out the diameter of my drums. I had to figure this all out, not even the dealer could tell me over the phone. I even called corporate ford and gave them my VIN and they still could not determine what braking system I need. Supposedly they did a bunch of weird stuff on their vehicles during those years.

Now I need to figure out if I have 2 wheel ABS or 4 wheel ABS and I can't tell. I am not that good around cars, but from what I saw online I am supposed to see how many cables are coming out of the ABS motor but I don't even know where the ABS motor is.

If anyone can help me figure this out I would really appreciate it.

I attached two pics sorry they are dark...dunno if it helps

thanks guys

the rear abs is only one sensor in the rear diff housing. if there is a sensor there you have 4 wheel abs

Two wheel ABS has ABS in the rear only, 4 wheel has it in the front as well. Crawl under your truck and have a look in behind the front wheels. A truck with front ABS will have a tone ring on the back of the rotor and wiring for the sensor run out and attached to the spindle/knuckle. Not sure how much you can see with the dust shield still on though.

Many times you can get away with using the ABS front rotors on a non-ABS truck... you're just not using the tone ring.

RWAL was standard equipment. However, 4WABS was available as an option. Click Link From those pics it looks like its RWAL.

This link might help identify your system. Click Link

sorry i thought it was front abs only. easiest way to tell if you got front wheel abs is to look for a black wire coming from the brakes.

if you see this by the master cylinder on your truck you have 4 wheel ABS
