the 2wd jeep axle

what about doing a sas like 98mazda did but using the 2wd version of the cherokee front non driven axle? and leaf springs as opposed to a 4 link or 5 link or whatever with the coil springs? and has anyone come up with a way to do a saas with still using the rack and pinion steering?
