Not sure if it's understood WHY the 4WD lift won't work on the 4x2 Edge since Edge's have the "4x4 suspension".

Mainly, spindles: lift kits usually include new spindles and 4x2 spindles have a shaft sticking out of them for the hub/brake-rotor to fit over. 4x4 spindles have a HOLE in them for a bearing for the front axle shafts.

The upper arms, if different, would work, etc. but everything is designed basically to support the spindle and that's the main thing that is different in the kit.

There are many more differences between non-Edge 4x2's and 4x4's such as steering gear mounting, a-arms and upper ball joint stud sizes, type of front spring (coil/bar) etc.

So, for those of you who haven't seen the front disassembled, don't kid yourself into thinking any 4x4 IFS Ranger lift will work for your 4x2 Edge -- likely it won't and if it has replacement spindles it DEFINITELY won't.

how bout the camburg kit?

 

I've finally decided to go with the Camburg kit for the Edge model. It's 1550 for the parts and it works. I've swapped shocks and whatnot on several vehicles, so it shouldn't be that hard. I'll take a long weekend once i get my wheels and tires... which reminds me...

 

The 6.0 is awesome, it's what I have and couldn't be happier with it.

It involves a LOT more than swapping shocks.

 

Ok now call me dumb, but the site says that the spindles give you 3.5 inches of lift and yet they say the kit gives 6 inches. Which is it. Am I mis-reading or something? I'm looking at going bigger and with an overall better suspension setup and the camberg dual shock setup is looking mighty nice.

 

Their spindle will give you the 3.5"s, and a full torsion bar crank will give you the rest.

 

What I meant is that if it doesn't involve a lot of welding and what not, I can do it. I've torn apart a couple of suspensions before.

And remember where I'm from we have several vehicles sittin' around in the yard...

I have 5% tint on all my windows but the front i used to wheel at night like all the time havent wheeled in a LONG time now BUT why you thing i have all these lights BWHAHA i NEVER had a problem seeing at night

Yup, Camburg put it on. I could've done everything myself except the welding of the limit strap tabs but I got a great deal on the kit plus free install because I was advertising for them a lot more back on GE. Let me know when you get your 6.0 and I can get you a discount, I'm working on getting everyone here a discount as well but it takes time.

 

Yeah, It'll be at least 6 or 8 months for me... I'm a poor college kid... ha. If i'd have payed more attention and did my homework, I'd only have to pay 180 a semester for tuition!! Geez
