Put the Fabtech springs and control arms on my 2wd with the 2.3l and it rides like crap! The camber went way out on it and now my tires look like they are bent in at the top. I think I'm just going to put the factory springs back in and the spacer and call it a day. If you have a 2wd with a 4 cyclinder do not install the Fabtech lift springs!

 

home slice, when you lift a truck your camber goes out...thats normal. get it aligned

 

Can't do much about the spring ride but pretty much no matter what if you do an suspension lift you need an alignment. Plain and simple. If you can't get it aligned on stock go to NAPA and pick up the $50 Camber Kit so you can.

Yeah I had the Camber fixed and aligned and the dang thing bent it back out again!

then there is one of three problems:

1. you bought the incorrect lift

2. you installed correct/incorrect lift..incorrectly

3. the folks you got to align it were too busy with the male appendage in their mouth, than the task at hand.

I always take it to the shop and sit right outside the bay and ask for a spec sheet of before and after. accountability does wonders in making things get done at mech shops

 

I'm gonna say it was #3.

 

make sure you put on new ball joints (assuming you did), i failed to replace my uppers when coverting to 4x4 and shredded a pair of tires even after the alignment. If all the components are not newer they will go back to being out of alignment after you get one done.

 

Wait you put 3" coils in the front and are wondering why you can't get it aligned?

 

If you have done everything correctly, with the correct parts, you have the aftermarket upper arm bolts, then you should be able to get it aligned perfectly.

 

you know you gonna let the springs settle right? the other problem is your sway bar is now at a bad angle, sending the force into the frame rather then down the bar. remove your sway bar, or get longer links.

 

Yeah Im thinking that is the case. Taking it in and having it done again but at a different place.

Also I did put in all new ball joints. All hardware is only 2 weeks old went in new with the lift. Another thing it is just the 2.5" lift from Fagtech. Just the coils and UCA's.

Anyone know where you get longer sway bar links?

 

if the coils are brand new you probably just need to break them in

 

rip out the sway bar lol! you might find it rides better

 

you could make sway bar links if you really wanted to. (i say leave it out, folks like it better without it)

go to home depot, get a threaded rod thats not larger than stock sway bar link in diameter, get some mac daddy washers that fit around the threaded rob and not through the whole in the sway bar itself, then some elastic stop nuts and build a link.

 

Taking it in for alignment # 2 today and have the sway links removed since one already snapped the top bolt off.

 

take the bar out then. dont leave it in the truck.

 

How will it handle with no sway bar? I do mostly drive this truck on the road 95% of the time.

 

as do i with mine. It will have a small lean, its not hard to get used to. just slow down on corners and dont be swerving everywhere. Ive had no swaybar for about 6 months now, and love it.

 

Yeah I will give it a try. Hoping the ride gets better. My 2500 Ram rides smoother with beefed up front springs.

 

Thats because of the weight. Lifting or lowering will always cause a rougher ride normally. You may also need to get some longer front shocks. That could be another cause to the rough ride.

if your shocks are maxed (they 100% are) its gonna ride like a tank. your gonna need extended front shocks. an alignment before shocks is also a bad idea, because i bet the shocks wont le everything drop down properly.
