Curerntly on my '96 ranger I have 4" lift blocks, an add a leaf and the chevy drop shackels. The stock springs are almost perfectly level.

What I am wondering is if the skyjacker 6" springs can be mounted directly on the spring perch on the axle or if there needs to be some block underneath it.

Why would they need to be mounted on a block??

BTW. alcan springs>skyjacker

You can mount them on the spring perch thats on the axle. You'll have a much better ride and don't have to worry about your springs snapping. Also you won't have any more axle wrap.

If you need 4" of lift and you have the stock shackle, get yourself the Skyjacker FR36's. They are the 6" springs. They will give you 4" of lift without any block.

So do the 6" springs actually only provide 4" of lift?

I don't have the stock shackle or blocks.

yes 6" lift leafs give you only 4" because they expect you to keep the 2" blocks.

So would it be better to have 2 inch blocks and stock shackles or the chevy shackles and no blocks. Or will it even matter.

what would you need to do to get rid of both blocks and keep the same height?

Maurice had 2 blocks per side on his Ranger to get the rear up 4" above stock. When we swapped in the Skyjacker springs, he removed all blocks and it was still 4" above stock.

If you don't have any blocks on the truck you will be 6" higher then stock. 0+6=6

If you have an Edge/4wd with 2" blocks already and you remove them and add the springs you will be 4" higher then stock. 6-2=4

I think thats as simple as it can be put lol

That doesn't make any sense. In one your saying you have 6" lift springs. In the other your saying you have four. 6" lift springs give you 6" of lift with 2" blocks. So those springs only give 4" without 2" blocks.

My question...going along with this thread.

For example, I have AAL, shackle, 3" block, and towing spring (some stupid bolt on thing to keep my springs from sagging as much).

I'm still needing about 1" above where I'm at right now.

What would a good spring be? I was thinking of chevy swap bc it is a LOT cheaper, and seems more stiff. I just don't know what size?

Its a 6" taller leaf spring. If you have NO blocks on your truck and you put these on you will be 6" higher then before. If your truck came stock with 2" blocks and you remove them and install these you will be 4" higher then before. Stock height-2"s from taking out the blocks+6"s from the new springs=4"s higher then before with the factory blocks. If you can't understand that I can not help you.

NO, completely wrong; think about it again. If you have no blocks, then you will get 4" of lift no matter what. To get the 6" of lift you will need the 2" blocks along with the springs.

Do you have the torsion bars cranked also? If you do, then you will want the 6" springs because they give you 4" of lift without the blocks. If you don't and don't want to crank the torsion bars, then get the Skyjacker FR34's; they are a 4" spring with the block and 2" without a block.

Why would Skyjacker sell a 6" lift leaf spring that gives you 4" of lift...

This comes straight from Skyjackers website..
Quote: Factory Block Can Be Removed To Reduce Lift 2-3 in. Depending On Block Size
It can be found on this page here which is the FR36 (6" Ranger leaf spring) product page:
http://www.skyjacker.com/products/pr...ail/?id=152126

Skyjacker is saying you WILL get 6" of lift, but only IF you leave the factory block in. These springs are sold with their 8" '84-'97 TTB lift kit. They expect you to leave the block in to level the rear with the front.

Ok yeah that's what I said lol, someone said something about removing the stock block that they had and putting in these springs, and I said if you do that you will only be 4" higher then stock. What I mean by 6" higher with no blocks is if your truck came with no blocks lol
