Here's my current plan you guys. I wanna get a 2in suspension lift and a 2in body lift on my 96 2wd 4cyl. I'm thinking 32in tires. What do you guys think of the looks and what kind of problems I could run into? Thanks you guys. I originally wanted to lower but I'm starting to convert.

 

lifting a 2wd dont make since, unless you just going for the look, thats just me though.

 

there is nothing wrong with lifting a 2wd.

 

I didnt say anything was wrong just that it dont make since. Dont know how far you going to get with a 2wd truck with 32s on it in some sticky mud. I mean if he don't take it in the mud then it dont matter.

 

i think that sounds like a pretty decent plan man...do it up!!

 

I don't know all the lifts out there for a '96, but I'd go with a 3" Suspension lift and then whatever BL you want. Lifting a 2wd is fine it'll get you more clearance and you can still make it pretty capable offroad. Check out what n3elz did when he was 2wd, he was on 35's too.

 

omfg its "make sense" not since...sorry that was bugging me...any alot of people lift 2wd..infact i know several people who can "wheel" in 2wd pretty damn good...and all baja prerunners and what not are all 2wd

 

sounds like a plan. But....why not just go all suspension lift?? 2".....you could get a 4" for not that much more.

Since/sence/cents you are a 4cyl....you need to look at a gear change possibly.

 

Can someone link me to a gear code sheet or something so I know what gearing I have? Anyone have any suggestions as to gearing?

I think you should put a locker in the rear if your gonna be offroading. I think all 2wd off roaders should have lockers. just my opinion. A total of 4 inches would look good with 32's.

 

4" is not enough for 32s on a ibeam truck. I think the 5.5" calls for 31s.

i think there's more sense in lifting any truck than lowering it... but im heavily biased.. i say do it.

locks the axle shafts together so you dont get "one tire fire"
it effectively doubles the power put to the ground since both tires will be spinning and not just the tire with less traction

 

So could I just weld up my spider gears or something for the same effect?

 

Kinda in a way but it would drive horribly on the street.

 

if you offroad a decent amount.. and you can weld it up correctly, AND dont care about sacrificing on road driveability... then go dor it, but remember a mini spool is only what.. 1-200? and thats reversible
