replacing my ball joints, upper and lower, do I need to pull the spindle off and the axle/u joint out, or can I do this w/o all that work? also, the upper factory b-joint does not have a nut on it? am I missing something? any help??

The upper ball joint doesn't come out of the control arm, you buy a replacement upper arm.
Check rockauto.com for Moog greaseable ball joints.
I'm not sure, off hand, if you need the axle nut out for the lower ball joint, you definitely don't for the upper.

I did mine just a few weeks back and it was so much easier with the axle nut off and the axle out fo the way.
