Bearing
Bearing
Hi, I have a 2010 xlt 4x4. The maintenance manual says to replace bearings at 60k. Is anybody actually doing this or just waiting till they fail? What bearings are they talking about, front, rear, or both? My truck doesn’t get worked hard much. Thanks
I would assume they mean front wheel bearings since they are "lifetime" sealed bearings, can't be serviced just replaced
Rear wheel bearings are lubed on the fly by differential oil so don't tend to wear out, but their seals can leak
If you have gotten new tires and/or an alignment they would have noticed a problem then if they were wearing out
I wouldn't worry about it unless you start to hear a hummm noise from front when driving, or visual inspection of inside of wheel shows grease stains

What it says is, "Replace front wheel bearing grease and the grease seal" So just the grease and seal on front wheel bearings if non-sealed bearings are used.
Does not say replace the front wheel bearing.
At least that's the way I read it.
