Chevy 63/64 leaf swap info question

Hey, gonna grab these leafs thursday fron the junk yard, since its gonna be nice out.

I want the 3+ overload leaf pack, so my question is this.

What year range of truck has the chevy 63/64 3+ overload pack i need?
What package truck has this leaf?
Is there anything specific i should look for that will help me get a good set of leafs?

i will get them re-arched if they need it, but it would be great to avoid it if i can.

Thanks guys, please share any info you think will help me. :)

If you want to get a lot of wheel travel flip the shackle like chevy's have them. Prerunners do it all the time for long travel rear ends. You should only have 2 or 3 leafs if you want them to flex. I'll be picking some up in the morning.

replace your current shackle with a belltech 6400 chevy lowering shackle, after you re-arch and remove the overload. a little write up here http://www.therangerstation.com/Maga...vy_springs.htm
and here http://www.therangerstation.com/tech...eelTravel.html about half way down the page. happy reading

got them. still debating if i wanna re-arch them and flip the shackle. i really like my lift shackles, and would much rather keep them and just replace bushings and bolt the leafs in minus the 2" block.

I wouldn't flip the shackle if lift and flex is what your going for.

they go in sunday. will have before and after pics. replaced the bushings and will be coating them in a flexible tar coating to prevent more rusting.

Your going to drill out the front hanger and relocate the bottom left hole to the bottome right? Then move the rear mount further back or are you going to run double shackles?

im grinding the rivets off the front mount and moving it forward, nothing is changing with the rear, nor needs to. a custom brace will be made to support the new mounting locations from a sheering effect of the frame.

Im having my friend who has 64's help me out with the install, so i'll have a set of experienced eyes looking everything over.

I'm looking at doing this swap on mine as well...

I've got the new spring hangers, shackles, shock mounts, and shocks waiting to go on...

Here's the swap on an early Ranger. Later trucks have a different forward spring hanger but the process is similar.

As promised, heres my 64's swap and i ended up buying something else thats in now :)
This thing rides like a DREAM. it still needs a few finishing touches, but its 90% done.

no pics of bed removal, but we do have from that point on.

1st leaf out:

Stock ranger 2wd leaf vs chevy 64's. 2.5" difference.

Had a few friends come down to give me a hand!

Grind down the rivets

Hammer it off:

Mocked up the new spot:

Cleaned up the area before coating it in tar undercoating:

First 64 leaf in: i temporairly have the block over the leaf so i can get to work the next few days. new U-bolts and front hanger bolts will be picked up.

NEW SHOCKS! they are 30 extended, 18 compressed. $130 for both :)

first test drive:

And bed install:

Test drive:

total cost was just under 200 for leafs(kit), 130 for shocks. 330 all in. :)

Also greased my slip yoke with moly, and it got rid of all the clunks and noise and rattles isve been having! if you have any driveline noise, DO THIS FIRST.

How far forward did you move the front hanger? And did you do anything to the rear shackles mount?
