Clapped out torsion bars
Clapped out torsion bars
Hey guys working on my other 04 that still has torsion bars. 160k and I mounted my snow plow on this one.
Already has #1 torsion bard and the C code rear leafs
I picked up some NEW #1 torsion bars and some higher rated rear leafs
But I think I remember correctly someone saying the further you twist the torsion bar the faster it looses it strength.
Could I put in new #1s and a set of "lift" keys or would I just be better off with just the new #1s
BTW I have Timbrens in the front to help with the plow weight. Also I know coilovers would be better but I just dont hav the time or effort to put them in this truck currently

#1's are prone to hold the adjustment a little better than the F or B bars. But they too will sag with both extra weight, and adjustment. The torsion key will do the same thing as adjusting the bar, and then it allows you to over-extend the bar so that your alignment angles are awful and you'll start trashing the front end. I would personally just run the #1 bars, and if you feel that the plow flattens them out, throw in a set of lift keys to compensate for the sag in the bars.
