Maybe old news here, but I just got off the phone with the ORW guys. They were very knowledgeable and said the issue with the kits they made was upper control arm clearance. They have no plans to make a new kit because making a custom uca would push the cost way up.

Someone on here is already making the brackets for the coilovers so those who want them will get them once completed.

So to throw this back a different direction, Whats the story on the coil overs themselves. Has anyone found a good compressed/extended length. A good valving as well as coil rate??

I saw that.. I was just wondering if any of these guys had tested the different springs. Nobody else really has in that thread

Just FYI, you can subscribe to a thread without posting to it. Just go up to "Thread Tools" and click "Subscribe to Thread."

Good to know. But this is easier for me

Can Welding Wait?

Hello there,

I’m trying to get all my ducks in a row to do it properly but inexpensive.

I plan to do all the bolt on stuff with the mounts, bump stops and limit straps and then go to a shop to weld the upper shock tower supports.

I have a stock 2004 XLT FX4
Already have mounts, fox emulsion 2.0 with 10”2.5ID springs. Thanks!

JB

I'm not saying angles are that important. I realize they aren't unless you're looking for an exact copy of the brackets that do exist. The only important thing is that the upper bracket, once welded together, fits the upper hoop and bolts in nicely, AND the lower brackets 90degree mounting tabs are "clocked" the right direction for the coilover to fit into it correctly, which would be found out upon mock-up as KLC said.

I would like to see the lower brackets be designed with tab-n-slots for the correct clocking, so welding wouldn't be necessary for the person making them. It'b be a much more user friendly kit for everyone. If nothing else then the lowers could be tacked in place in the correct orientation once someone had the right angles for the lower shock mounts.

GB :)

I realize this is super old but if you remember geometry class you can derive angles of a polygon if you have the lengths of all sides and at least one angle...
