Coil springs: Linear rate vs. progressive rate..?
Coil springs: Linear rate vs. progressive rate..?
So as I am reasearching into what coil springs I will use when I do my leaf-to-coil swap, I've come upon these two types of springs.
An example of each:
Linear: http://broncograveyard.com/bronco/i-..._coils_5__.htm
Progressive: http://www.cageoffroad.com/product_d...d=34&itemid=65
I initially was liking the progressive rate coils as they seem to be similar to a coil-over setup, with the two different spring rates. But as I read on, it seems that perhaps a progressive rate coil isn't as good in comparison to a linear rate coil?
Anyone who can add info/insight would be great!

I'm using 17" long (uncompressed), linear, 1979 F-150 4" lift springs. Seem pretty compliant and I've got adequate flex for this build of my truck. Nice ride.
I don't know enough about progressive rates to even comment. I'm not sure for instance what they would do for my setup when I'm happy with it already.
