Creaking sounds -- 2001 Ranger 3.0 V6
Alright, I'll start by saying that I don't know all that much about motor vehicles beyond the basics, so if I come off as ignorant, it's because I am. :-P
I bought my truck back in July from my grandfather (had 176,000 miles on it at the time, and now has about 181,000)and from the beginning, it would creak as it went over bumps. The sounds seem to come from all tires whenever I hit a bump. When I got an oil change and lube, the sound went down a little, but not much. Ever since it started getting cold, the creaking seems to be a little more noticeable.
She runs fine, drives fine, though the ride has always been kind of firm and wobbly (I honestly kind of like it that way), and handles fine. I checked my ball joints, and they seem worn...but certainly are fully functional. Overall...I'd say that it sounds like a middle-aged suspension. I'm not honestly too worried about it, but I was wondering what you guys thought.
I'll be happy to supply more details if I can. Just ask. :-)
