fabtech 3.5in spindles
 

im thinking about buying the fabtech 3.5 in spindles. i was wanting to see if anybody has used these and how well they turned out.

well i just put mine on about 2 weeks ago and i lvoe them.... i don't have any problems just if you install them your self make sure you grind the bottom of your control arm real good i'll post some pic give me a sec...also it's very easy to do in your garage.. it was the first time i'd ever done anything of that level... and it qwas very easy just read the instructions

how much did you have to pay for the spindles? i am also thinking about going with the 3 in body lift.

What size tires are you gonna run? Are you gonna put a AAL in the rear? What are the specs of your truck, those will help us help you better.:)

i have 2004 ranger edge 4x2 i would like to run 31s

ha if you want to run 31's go get the spindles i paid $400 even with shiping go to you local autozone and by some 3 inch lift/lowering blocks...and if you want the front a little higher than the rear while you at atuo zone by the universal Coil Spacer...and 31's wil looks small al in al i'm under 500 Bucks with my whole lift so far...but thats not counting the body lift me and a few guys on the board are putting on at the huntsville meet........so you looking at $400 for the spindles about $40 bucks for 3 lift blocks. and 20 bucks for the coil spacer.and honestly i think 31's look to small maybe some 32's? o and don't forget shocks i'm not sure if you'll need them up front.... i have been running around with my stock shocks and haven't bottomed them out yet

I'm no expert, but I know there is another company called ProComp that sells spindles that seem to be more popular. The fabtechs have issues with some stock rims too. You can get the procomp from four wheel parts, but it's listed for an Ford explorer.

there is a gut on RPS who is running the procomp spindles with the stock rims on 31s without any problems... you will need to get new rims if you use the fabtech

i have fabtech spindles and they are great!!! you have an edge so i would say that the smallest tire you should run is a 32"

i've had mine for a year now...love 'em.

the guy at performance lifts explained that since the spindles were made specifically for the edge that stock rims would would. the rims i want a the extreme steel wheel black powdercoat with a rim size of 15x8. i believe i will probally run 32in tires.

Can someone verify this is the right part? It says 01 explorer, but I think it supposed to fit edges.

I have the Fabtech spindles and a 3 body lift with 35's and i think that I need to get 36's or 37's, so i would go any smaller than a 35 with teh spindles and body lift, I also have fabtech shocks. and you can run stock rims with the fabtech spindles, my 35's are on 15x10 rims but every time I get on the highway I put on my stock rims and tires and have no trouble at all.

i havent known anyone to have em, and i from what these guys are sayin, its sounds like the way to go, also considering not to many companies make a lift for the newer model edge. maybe this site will help. . .Fabtech Lift says the 32" will best work on a 15x7, but 33 would probably be better IMO, and im not sure what size the edge wheels are. that site also includes the who package of spindles, rear leaf springs, and shocks for like 700 shipped.

u can get 32x10.50's....

anything bigger than 10.50 wont work properly on our 7 inch rims, u should upgrade to 8 or 10, although i've heard bad things about 10"ers on our trucks

if you have an edge, you can easily run 32x11.50's on a stock rim, if you crank the tbars up a little, without rubbing... <see pic1>

if you do the explorer pro comp spindles(better than fabtech, imo) you could run up to a 34" tire w/o rubbing...

in my opinion, an edge with a spindle lift and 33x12.50x15" tires on a 15x8" wheel looks perfect... <see pic2>

you can run 31's stock, easy, if that's all you wanna go for...

if you choose a 33x10.50x15" tire, you can put that on your stock 15x7" wheel. if you are going to get an aftermarket wheel, you should probably go with a 15x8" wheel... then you can run 33x12.50's beautifully...

and steel wheels? please, get some aluminum rims.

but i've asked this question before, and its not a matter of if a stock ranger can "tuck" or is tall enugh for anything larger than a 10.50, its the fact that the 15x7 rim isnt really wide enough to properly and 100% safely seal a 11.50+ tire.

i'm sure anything is possible. but some things are not probable. u can run a big tire on the stock rim, but many users on this site have advised against it, for one reason or the other. i myself was wanting to cut some corners and not get aftermarket rims and roll with the stocks and a bigger tire....but members advised me against it.

a 15x7 isnt SUPPOSED to fit it...but it can...a 15x8 isnt SUPPOSED to fit a 12.50....but it can..... for a 11.50, u get a x8 rim, a 12.50, a x10, etc....

amazing that almost every tire/wheel package you can get with a 33x12.50" tire comes with a 15x8" rim...

every single person that i know, personally, running a 33x12.50 is running it on an 8" rim...

the only argument that holds up is personal preference...

not safety or holding the pressure...

the hardcore 4x4 guys that run 37x12.50's run them on 8" a smaller footprint. the ones that want a larger footprint, from pulling the tire out more, run a 10"...

it is always an argument and it always comes down to personal preference...

theres a dodge dakota in my town with some 33x12.50s on his stock rims...and it looks sorry as hell....they tires stick out about 3 inches past the edge of the rim...it just looks to me like the bead would bust easier...plus the wider u go, the more u'd want the tires to stick out, for one) looks, for two) to compesate for the wider tires on the inside fenderwell

and it would depend more on the offset of the wheel how much more that tire tucks inside the fenderwell...

true...the offset is the key, but i was implying that normally people who get aftermarket rims opt for more offset

supposed to? how can you prove something that works isn't "supposed" to work, when it comes to tires fitting... they fit... therefore it works, right?
