Leaf spring hanger

My previous rear hanger and shackles rusted in half on both sides of my 96 2wd ranger. I got new hangers and shackles to replace them. All the work is done besides putting the new ones on. But on the factory hangers there are "L" shaped brackets on the inside of the hanger torwards the frame that is connected to the top hanger and shackle bolt. However the new shackles do not come with new ones. Do I need to take the L brackets off the factory hangers or do I not need to worry about them. Any advice will help a ton. Thanks

Can you post pictures of the "L" in question?
